There will be two weeks of gender stereotypes awareness lessons from 18-29 June 2012. The programme will be delivered to Year 5 and Year 6 (9 and 10 year olds), and includes elements of science, geography, history, politics and sociology.
Science: how different are boys’ and girls’ brains? What’s the evidence?
History: what have gender roles been throughout history?
Geography: how does cultural construction of gender differ throughout the world?
Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE): how does gender affect children today?
Citizenship: what can you do to drive change?
English: does language play a part in portrayal of gender?
Maths: how can statistics help to understand and analyse gender roles?
Literature: how does fiction represent gender and are there consequences?
